Here’s a short video about our Dayhike to Mt. Daraitan and Tinipak River. The mountain is at the center of the Sierra Madre mountain range about a 2 hours drive from Metro Manila. The hike to the summit is around 2.5 to 4 hours depending on your pace, so make sure to allot the entire day or start early if you want to experience what Mt. Daraitan has to offer.
If you’re driving, WAZE or Google Maps, Sampaloc, Tanay Rizal, then there are visible signs on how to proceed to Barangay Daraitan from there. FYI, you will have to drive through some patches of rough roads to get there.
Here are some photos:
We went last October 28, 2019, Tuesday, fully-prepared physically (we jog a week before) and mentally (because we are 1st timers, we did our adequate research about hiking and Mt. Daraitan in general)…..
BUT we are still SHOOKT! It was soooooo challenging MGA BES! XD
We underestimated the 4/10 difficulty and 90% Assault that we have read on the internet LMAO
Good thing, we have the BEST travel guide on our side, kuya Marlowin, a resident of Rizal that took care of us throughout the trip (and we are returning the favor by posting his number here!). He’s an experienced hiker so if you want an all-around guide (slash photographer, slash Hugot King haha!) just look for this guy. If it weren’t for him, we might have cried right from the start T_T
The scenery when you reach the Summit, Heart Peak and the Tinipak River are all worth it!
Tips:
– Do not go during rainy season, weekends, and holidays.
– Best time to start: between 3AM to 6AM
– Wear appropriate hiking shoes. Socks, gloves, raincoats, waterproof bag can be bought near the Brgy. Hall
– For first-timers, it’s best if you search for a place to spend the night in Sampaloc before going to Brgy. Daraitan
– Pls. contact kuya Marlowin Mendoza (0997-947-1822)
IF YOU NEED A TRAVEL GUIDE. Highly recommended!
