Maggie Wilson-Consunji becomes first Filipina to finish the Antarctic Ice Marathon

The cold did not bring 28-year-old British-Filipina beauty queen, Maggie Wilson, down as she officially became the first Filipina to complete the world’s “World’s Southernmost Marathon” otherwise known as the Antarctic Ice Marathon last November.

The Antarctic Ice Marathon is headed by the Global Running Adventures, Inc. who also hosts the annual North Pole Marathon, the Volcano marathon, and the World Marathon Challenge. This year, the Ice Marathon was held at the Union Glacier, Antarctica,  a moving glacier where 55 runners from 6 continents participated.

Wilson finished with the time of 08:56:53. The TV personality and the Binibining Pilipinas Miss World was proud to represent the Philippines once again and shared her joy on Instagram:

The Antarctic Ice Marathon is a 42-Kilometer course and was reported to have a -20 degrees Celcius weather during the marathon. Wilson ran along with her husband Victor Consunji, who’s also the first Filipino North Pole Marathon finisher.

The next Antarctic Ice Marathon will happen on the 13th of December, 2018.
